About the iF Design Award
Since 1954, the iF Design Award has been a globally recognised trademark for outstanding design. It is one of the most important design prizes in the world and honours outstanding achievements in product, communication, service and UX/UI design.
With almost 11,000 entries from 66 countries, the iF DESIGN AWARD 2025 once again proves its position as one of the most prestigious design competitions in the world. Over three intensive and successful days in Hamburg, 131 jurors from 23 countries came together to select the best and most outstanding designs. The jury, which applied strict selection criteria, praised the overall high quality of all submissions and emphasised the growing focus on sustainability.
The iF DESIGN AWARD is supported by the non-profit iF Design Foundation, which emphasises the global significance of design, its social relevance and its influence. Its aim is to promote innovation for a better future. One of the key innovations is the increased weighting of sustainability as one of the five evaluation criteria in the hybrid jury process. To ensure this, the Sustainability Working Group was set up to support all jurors with questions relating to sustainability and ensure a fair assessment.
The advantages of the iF DESIGN AWARD
- Validation: The award confirms the outstanding work and excellent design of your team and project.
- Differentiation: Companies have the chance to measure themselves against their competitors and receive valuable feedback from internationally renowned design experts.
- PR opportunities: The award attracts attention in the design community - both online and in print media.
- Product protection: The award officially recognises your design innovation, which provides additional product protection.
The evaluation process
The iF DESIGN AWARD jury process is organised in two stages: In an initial online pre-selection, around 50 per cent of the entries are eliminated. The final physical jury meeting then decides on the winners.
All submissions are evaluated based on five revised criteria that were developed in collaboration with international design experts. Each juror enters his/her detailed assessment into the iF Digital Jury Tool©, which is made available to all participants as a feedback chart.
